Animal trapping

During the 18th and19th century the most common trap, beside the snare, was the steel leghold trap. The leghold trap is a trapping tool that combines a foot plate and two curved bars with a spring-powered action that closes to hold an animal. The main area of application was the killing of predators. The trap – which could cause great suffering to the animal – was completely banned in Sweden as recently as 1968.
